Toronto’s CMDWN collective; FIJI & Ca$tro Guapo, alongside producer / DJ Teo Nio and model Plug Pope, have built a strong loyal following in a short time. CMDWN, sold out their debut Toronto headline performance at the city’s Tattoo Queen West this past December. Pushing over 550 in attendance, CMDWN relied on no supporting acts or industry co-signs to fill the venue.
Special guests included Ian Connor, Playboi Carti, Jazz Cartier & Ram Riddlz. Following a 2015 that saw the collective sell out shows in Vancouver and Montreal, coupled with the viral success of hit singles ‘We Are Not’, ‘Wrist’, and ‘What’s Her Name?’, CMDWN is posed for a massive takeover in 2016.
Below Ca$tro Guapo of the CMDWN collective released an ode to one of his favorite rappers; Waka in his latest track entitled ‘Waka Flocka Flame.’
“Growing up, I was always a big fan of Waka, I would listen to his songs on repeat. I remember getting tickets to his show one summer, and it was one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life. I watched and admired his stage presence, his energy, and his ability to control the crowd. I’ve wanted to be him and have the same effect on people ever since.” – Ca$tro Guapo
